Are you shining your light? Or are you hiding in plain sight? Is it time to own who you are and own your spirituality? These are questions that I have been asking myself lately and I am wondering if they resonate with you also?
And what do I mean by spirituality? I’m not talking about religion here, and I believe that each of you will have a slightly different definition as to what it means to you.
For some, it is a quiet kind of knowing that lives beneath the noise of everyday life. It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t demand. But when you pause long enough to listen, it speaks to you with unmistakable clarity. Some of you will call it intuition. Some of you will call it the Universe, the Divine, Source, or simply Love.
Whatever name you give it, it’s the part of you that truly knows who you are, why you’re here, and all of your potential that you hold within, if only you allow it to bloom.
A Personal Reflection
When I was thirteen, I found myself standing in a devasting fog of loss. My grandma had died, the first person I’d truly and deeply cared about, who had passed away. That grief was confusing for a young teenager. It made me question the world and left me searching for meaning. I didn’t know it then, but that was the beginning of my light being called forward – my spirituality birthing.
I spent the next twenty years continuously speaking with my grandma in my head, telling her about my day, asking her for support when I didn’t know what to do, or I just didn’t want to feel so alone, or misunderstood.
When I was 31, I was being made redundant and I had a job interview and I distinctly recall brushing my teeth, and asking my grandma for help in the interview, asking her to give me the right answers, to help me keep calm and be able to speak with clarity et al. And at the time, I felt a great warmth come over me and a knowing that I would be okay. I got the job and this was a major turning point. In a moment of reflection, I realised that this was a confirmation that I wasn’t alone.
It was shortly after this that I embarked on my Reiki and Seichem journey, and during a meditation on my Level 1 course, I saw myself being belayed up a rock face by an monk wearing a deep brown habit. The rope was brown in colour and the belaying technique was around the waist, unlike the modern ways and with the multi-coloured ropes that climbers used at that time. I was a rock climber at the time. This image was spirit giving me an analogy that I would understand – showing me that I was being guided and taught within this healing modality.
During my Level 3 course, where I was being taught and attuned to become a Reiki and Seichem Master/Teacher, in one meditation, I opened a sarcophagus and in it was a coiled snake, or so I thought initially! I couldn’t understand the image in the moment, it was only later that day, that it came to me in a flash that the snake was actually the brown coiled rope. I knew intuitively that it was spirit’s way of telling me that I am the guide now, I am now the teacher to attune and show people the way within my Reiki and Seichem.
Since that time, I have journeyed along my spiritual path – admittedly with a gap in between where I shut my ‘spiritual self’ down for a while – however over the last five years, I’ve come to trust that when I allow it, when I’m grounded and open to receiving, I become a channel. Not in a mystical, unreachable way. But in a deeply human way. Ideas flow. Words land. Support arrives. And I know it’s not just me. It’s something greater working through me, for the benefit of others.
The light you carry
I believe you each carry a light too. Not necessarily the kind that demands attention, but the kind that quietly illuminates the way forward for you. It shows up in how you listen. In how you speak your truth with tenderness. In how you create, support, and show up for others, even when you may be still figuring things out for yourselves.
Your light might be your creativity. Your ability to sit with someone in silence. Your way of making people feel seen. It doesn’t have to be loud. It just has to be yours.
And that’s the invitation, really. To become a vessel for wisdom. To let your light be a guide or a sign for someone else’s journey.
So here’s a gentle question for you to consider:
How are you shining your light? How does your light manifest?
Not how should you. Not how perfectly. Just… how are you, in your own way, letting your light be seen?
Because the world doesn’t need more noise. It needs more light. And your light matters.
If you feel called, take a few moments to write down how your light has shown up lately. You might be surprised by what you find!
